The Director of Institutional Advancement is responsible for
fundraising
planning and implementation, constituent relations, communications,
marketing,
and public relations for the School. The Director will work closely
with the
Head of School and other members of the administrative support staff.
The
Director of Institutional Advancement will possess a unique
understanding of
the mission, philosophy, and culture of The Woodhall School.
Duties:
-
Engineer an infrastructure for institutional advancement that is
informed by
the School's culture and is adaptable to our evolving social,
economical, and
technological landscapes.
- Coordinate and/or execute fundraising efforts including, but not
limited to,
major gift solicitation, planning, and executing the School's annual
and
capital campaigns.
- Responsible for "friend raising" as well as "fundraising" functions
of the
School.
- Serve as an ex officio member of the Board of Directors' Development
Committee.
- Collaborate with the Head of School and Board of Directors'
Development
Committee on strategic planning and implementation of development
initiatives.
- Coordinate special events for the School such as building
dedications,
special development functions, donor recognition.
- Serve as a liaison to outside groups who use the School's facilities
for
special events.
- Attend seminars and professional development workshops.
- Coordinate all areas pertaining to alumni affairs.
- Engineer and maintain a development database.
- Coordinate the development of a dynamic, interactive website.
- Maintain and enhance communication networks between the School and
its
constituents.
- Coordinate general advertising for the School.
- Work with members of the media to promote the School.
- Work with administrators, faculty, staff, and students to promote
programs
and events that are of interest to the community.
- Advise the Head of School in planning and development of all
activities
related to this position.
- Supervise student contributors and any future Institutional
Advancement staff.

Policy Analyst and Coordinator
New York State Council on Children and Families (CCF), Rensselaer, NY

CCF is a state body that coordinates 12 state agencies (in the areas of
health,
education and human services) to provide more effective systems of care
for New
York's children and their families.
Duties:
-
Managed and resolved inter-agency conflicts regarding the
coordination of
services.
- Monitored the frequency and severity of cases referred for resolution
to
determine policy or programmatic implications.
- Developed and maintained a database of hard-to-place and
hard-to-serve
clients to inform policy development based upon identified needs.
- Liaised with multiple state agencies on system reform to improve
service
delivery.
- Synthesized research data, advise the Council on findings, and made
recommendations for action.
- Represented the Council on a variety of tasks forces and work groups.
- Co-authored a report to the Governor and State Legislature on

crisis-intervention techniques, 2007.
- Produced materials for "Reform New York: Reinvesting in New York's
Youth," a summit on juvenile-justice reform, 2008.
- Analyzed the state budget for each of 12 member agencies to assess

for males aged 12 to 21.

facility wide.
- Supervised, managed, and scheduled staff.
- Performed daily facility inspections.
- Counseled resident youth, many with a history of violent
behavior.
- Managed crisis situations.
- Reviewed and approved disciplinary documents and incident reports
regarding
both residents and staff. Contacted the Unusual Incident Report (UIR)
and Child
Abuse hotlines as needed.
- Maintained a legal record of events.
Supervisor

Stepping Stone is a secure residential-treatment facility for girls
aged 12 to
18.

Developed the curriculum for this university-based
introductory mediation-training program and served as
instructor.
Mediation Consultant

Co-developed and implemented a mediation-training program for staff and
provided ongoing daily coaching as well as refresher training sessions.
