Relationships (cont.)
Let's look at it from a behaviorist's perspective.
If behavior is driven by need, what needs are driving our coupling behavior?
Therefore it stands to reason that the more we know about our individual needs, the more successful we will be in choosing a partner who won't hinder our ability to attend to our needs.
People who have AD/HD symptoms will greatly benefit from a comprehensive knowledge of their personal needs relative to the way they function in all areas of life so, that they can successfully integrate socially.
Therefore, it is critically important that we teach young people and adolescents strategies for success based on their strengths.
Otherwise, issues like remembering to pay bills, return videos, register vehicles, make reservations, run the laundry, do the dishes, feed the pets, and purchase gifts for holidays and anniversaries could ruin otherwise wonderful relationships.
Moreover, it is important that the young people and adolescents are well informed enabling them to communicate clearly regarding their individual needs as part of a positive self identity.
