Duncan H. Boyd

April 4, 1974 - 3:45pm
I was born in the Duncan Memorial Hospital to Colleen D****, a client of the Edna Gladney Home.

April 17, 1974
Joseph H. Boyd Jr. & Margaret (Peggy) M. Boyd adopted  me from the Edna Gladney Home and I became Duncan Hamilton Boyd.

I was immediatly taken home to 64th Street between Park Ave. and Madison Ave.  NYC.

While flying home, Joe took a stab at a diaper change and inadvertently (with the help of Duncan's superb aim) hosed down the head coach of the Texas long horns as well as his play-book.
Joe asks if he has need for a quarterback.

April, 1974
A short time later I met my oldest friends, Erik and Lance.
They are the children of Peggy’s life long friend (Aunt) Marry Ann & Joe’s high school friend (Uncle) Peter.

Summer, 1974
I also spent my first summer at the family home in Sag Harbor, Long Island

 1974 – 1975
My earliest memory is of lying in bed in my room on 64th Street (the former dining room) and staring at my reflection, inbetween my stuffed animals, on the mirrored wall it was against. I also remember clearly the texture of the mirror's edge as I ran my fingers along it.

Soon there after I also discovered a wooden statue of a monk in (Aunt) Winnie & (Uncle) Craig’s (family friends) house. (They still have it.)
It was terrifying and I would freeze and hide behind the most convenient, grown up legs I could find!
(Hey, the thing was eye level and very serious!!!)
A short time later, when Winnie & Craig moved to a new house, my first question upon my arival was "WHERE IS HE!"
I wasn't taking any chances.

Christmas, 1975
Here I am with my most prized possession, Jocko (teddy bear)  . Jocko still lives with me in Spencertown.

Winter, 1976
My first ski trip was to Flagstaff Arizona. Joe & Peggy were forced to hitch-hike with  me because the mountain pass was closed to cars without snow chains or 4wd due to a blizzard. A pick-up truck stopped and its passengers jumped into the back along with Joe while Duncan and Peggy rode in front.
(Duncan heads out to Sugarbush in Vermont.)
I always loved the snow!!!

Summer, 1976
Here I discover the ocean and become part fish.
(I still have gills)

 1976
Then I moved with my family to 116 E. 63rd Street between Lexington Ave. & Park Ave.

Not long after moving I met my life-long friend Jan (pronounced Yon) in central park.
I was climbing up a slide while Jan was sliding down.
We have never been separated!

April 3, 1977
My younger brother (Andrew) is born and arrives home a short time later.

 1977
Finally I started school at the Christ Church Day School where I developed my first crush on my classmate and next door neighbor, Charlotte.

 1978
Duncan meets life long friend George.

I loved driving my “Number 5 Racing Car” (a pump pedal car) with my grandfather Joseph H. Boyd Sr. (Poppy).
I also learned to ride a bike.
(Look mom, no shoes!)

 1979
A Star is born! In kindergarten , I played Robin Hood in the school play.
(They found a way to put my big mouth to good use!)

  Autumn, 1979
I briefly attended the Trinity School where I discovered that I have Attention Deficit Disorder (A.D.D.).

 Autumn, 1979
Soon after, I moved to the Town School for better programming.

More to come!
